Paniolo Adventures Wranglers also conduct scenic trail rides for guests from all over the world on an 11,000-acre working cattle ranch, stretching from the rain forest to the ocean, that offers the most spectacular scenery on the Big Island.

Our Wranglers have excellent horsemanship skills and are experienced riders. Wages are commensurate with experience.

BARN MANAGER
Paniolo Adventures is seeking a professional, knowledgeable Barn Manager to join our team. Our Barn Manager creates and implements wellness routines for our herd of trail riding horses, such as feeding, vaccination, supplementation, and hoof care and supervises the direct care provided by our Wranglers. Our Barn Manager is also the direct supervisor of our team of Wranglers and oversees all aspects of their management and performance, including recruitment, hiring, education, corrective action, and termination. The Barn Manager oversees and evaluates performance during, and occasionally conducts, trail rides for guests from all over the world. This is not a 9 – 5 job! Salary is $37,000 to $65,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
The following a general outline of the duties of Paniolo Adventures’ Barn Manager position:
• Establish, document and implement feeding, vaccination, worming, supplementation, and foot care routines for equine herd, in consultation with vet and owner.
• Supervise all aspects of Wranglers’ job performance, including recruiting, hiring, educating, evaluating, corrective actions, and termination.
• Identify additional horses to add to herd and negotiate a reasonable purchase price; identify horses for retirement.
• Establish Wranglers’ work schedules and ensure claimed hours are accurate and submitted timely.
• Supervise and ensure excellence of Wranglers’ performance of barn chores (including manure removal and stall cleaning), maintenance of tack and other horse equipment, and trail, fence, and corral maintenance. The Barn Manager will perform such chores when necessary.
• Understand, improve, and implement and risk management procedures utilized by Wranglers.
• Work with Owner to address business’ financial management.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum age is 18
• Documented experience involving horse husbandry required, including minor medical procedures.
• Documented supervisory experience required, ideally in a trail riding or dude ranch environment.
• Excellent western horsemanship skills, including training and conditioning of trail horses.
• Knowledge of digital devices, software, and use in the trail riding environment, including Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of FareHarbor software is desirable but not required.
• Ability to consistently lift and carry weight from 10-70 pounds without issue.
• Willing to work in all weather conditions, including wind and rain.
• Willing to work holidays and weekends.
